A stroll into the Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine eras and a mineral-rich spring Ghineh is a village located in the Keserwan District of the Mount Lebanon Governorate in Lebanon. It is located 36 kilometers north of Beirut at an average altitude of 950 meters asl.
The name is probably of Aramaic origin, from a root meaning “the protected reserve”. This village is rich in antiquities dating back to the Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine eras: being famous for its Adonis Rock, the Byzantine church with its mosaics, built on a Roman temple, as well for the remains of Roman stairs and its very attractive houses. Ghineh is also a destination for its “Qabaal spring water”, which is rich in minerals and flows from a rock shaped like a bull’s head.
