Day 1
Ghbaleh village
Duration: Full day
Arrival at Ghbaleh village from the airport to a local guesthouse.
A trip by bus to an archaeological site in Ghineh: Roman Temple, a Byzantine church and visit the Adonis Rock.
Mediterranean dinner at the local guesthouse in Ghbaleh.
Welcome & introduction to the 5-day tour by a local guide.
After-dinner activity: preparing pickles and herbal infusions, vine leaves picking with the guesthouse owner.
Day 2
Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve
Duration: Full day
Breakfast in the guesthouse garden; comparing Lebanese strained yogurt “Labneh” with cow’s or goat’s milk.
Transfer by bus to the Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve, Qehmez entrance; visit the Biosphere Garden.
Hike to Qornet El Deir archaeological site and the Roman Stairs or to the Byut.
Arrival at Mchati village for a traditional Lebanese homemade lunch at a local guesthouse: Ms. Hoda Nader.
Learn about and play backgammon “Tawleh”.
Visit Machnaqa Roman Temple and Adonis Stellae, the best view of Jabal Moussa by bus.
Dabkeh workshop at Beit El Dayaa in Yahchouch and storytelling of Yahchouch village history, visit to Saint Simon’s church.
Dinner and stay at Ms. Najwa’s guesthouse or sleep at Ghbaleh.
Day 3
Adonis Meditational trail
Duration: Full day
Transfer to Qehmez by bus, traditional breakfast at Ms. Kounayna’s guesthouse.
Hike on the Peony trail, walk along the Adonis Meditational trail (optional Yoga session) to the magical viewpoint towards the Adonis Gorge; and continue to Broqta village.
Quick Lebanese lunch at a guesthouse in Broqta village.
Visit the Temple of Astarte in Afqa “le plus beau site du monde” by bus or a walking archaeology tour around Broqta village (Roman tombs).
Phoenician “Lebbedeh” hat-making at the guesthouse.
Traditional cultural “Zajal” night with dinner and overnight stay at Broqta guesthouse.
Day 4
Al Ebreh village
Duration: Full day
Travel down from Broqta through the legendary Adonis Gorge to Al Ebreh village.
Breakfast at Ms. Bader’s artisanal bakery: make your “Man’oushé” from scratch, seasonal Mouneh making (jams, keshek).
Walk the loop of Al Ebreh-Chouwan through a deciduous Mediterranean forest.
Picnic lunch in the picturesque Chouwan (by the lake or on the culture trail).
Return to Al Ebreh by bus or by walking.
Traditional charcoal-making workshop (optional).
Watching the sunset view from Al Ebreh village rooftops.
“Karkeh” Arak-making, dinner, stargazing and staying at Rita Keirouz’s guesthouse.
Day 5
Snawbar village
Duration: Full day
Fast breakfast then walks on the Al Jalseh Trail towards Snawbar village.
Brunch at Snawbar village: traditional Saj “galettes” under the great oak tree of St. George’s Monastery.
Walk from St Georges Monastery through Shepherds’ encounter to Nahr ed Dahab (visit a typical Ottoman farmhouse) (optional).
Return back to the hotel in Beirut from Snawbar or Nahr ed Dahab, depending on the chosen hike.
Dinner and sleep in Beirut, the next day departure to the airport.
