A week of celebration around St. Simon’s church
Celebrating the village’s patron saint over a joyful week
The locals of Yahchouch village (especially the youth) gather, with visitors, in the church square to celebrate the long-awaited feast of St. Simon, held from the 31st of August of each year for a whole week. Fun activities, delicious food and drinks stands, and artists from the nearby villages will also be present at the event. The priest of the village celebrates an evening and a morning mass in the church.
The “Kermesse”, which is the outdoor festival held near the Church, exemplifies the spirit of the feast with a rural dinner, arak making and homemade syrups, handmade crafts and painting stands, as well as toys and activities for children. Visitors can visit the old church, pray, eat, drink, dance, buy from the local producers and meet a lot of people from the village!
