“Le Vernaculaire”
Admire traditional Lebanese architecture
The word Byut "بيوت" means houses. A moderately difficult trail (2.9km) through a diverse landscape of dense mixed forest and karstic outcrops leads to the Byut area, where you can explore the lifestyle of our ancestors on an isolated mountaintop.
Three old houses and a vaulted water cistern are well preserved, showcasing traditional Lebanese architecture and building techniques.
Work campaigns were held in the 3 ruined houses in 2010 and 2018 to stabilize them.
