A panoramic view of the Jabal Moussa Reserve
The ancient place of torment and grief, where death sentences were carried out The Machnaqa area is located within the village of “Ain el delbe” in the Jbeil District of the Mount Lebanon Governorate, about 60 km from Beirut, at an altitude of 1200 meters asl.
Situated within the transition zone of the JMBR it offers panoramic views of the reserve. Its name probably comes from the Syriac “Mashnaqta”, which means: “the place of torment and grief”, or else it goes back to an Arabic origin linked to the death sentences that were carried out here in Ottoman times. Agriculture in the area produces cereals, grains, fruits and vegetables.
