One of Jordan's most famous and well-known dive sites
Every wreck gives rise to a great success story, including the Cedar Pride Ship! In 1982, a fire destroyed the Cedar Pride, a Lebanese-flagged ship. The badly damaged vessel was then deliberately sunk about 150 metres off the coast to be used as an artificial reef and bottom for scuba diving. The wreck lies on the bottom, resting on its port side, at a depth of about 27 metres.
A surface buoy marks the exact spot, which can be reached by diving from the boat or directly from the shore. The upper starboard side is at a depth of about 10 metres, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced divers. The wreck is 75 metres long and mostly still complete. The most fascinating dives can be made on the side facing the sea, where the bridge and superstructure are located. Over time, hard corals and small creatures have built their homes on the surfaces of the Cedar Pride. There are anemones, corals, pipefish and groups of Acropora. Urchins, shrimps, Spanish dancers and soft coral crabs swarm the deck. The Cedar Pride Shipwreck is also a great place for night diving.
