An acestral lifestyle
Ancient remains in the Adonis Valley A truly remote and wild place, which however hosts several cultural landmarks, including two abandoned farms of the Ottoman era surrounded by agricultural terraces. Next to the first abandoned farm is an old carob press. Further down towards the river, you can see two water mills, where the age-old activities of grinding grain into flour still take place today.
A partly reconstructed stone bridge, linking the cazas of Jbeil and Kesserwan, will allow visitors to cross the historic river Adonis (Nahr Ibrahim). This site offers an overview of the economic infrastructure and farming techniques in Lebanon in the 19th century.
