Overlooking Lake Arancio, the Itervitis Country Museum celebrates an area rich in history, culture and culinary excellence
A new exhibition space reveals the secrets of Sicilian wine growing, based on identity and excellence The Itervitis Country Museum is located on the shores of Lake Arancio, a short distance from the fortress of Mazzalakar.
Created to celebrate and enhance the peculiarities of the area and Sicily’s rich wine growing and making traditions and heritage, the space is housed inside an old evocative stone building.
Within the stone outer walls of this old roofless house, the educational displays tell the story of Sicilian wine growing, the native grape varieties and the journey of the vine from East to West in 22 panels.
Inaugurated in 2009, the Itervitis Country Museum can be visited every day free of charge, with no time restrictions.
