One of the most important historical monuments in Palestine
A Roman palace of the first century BC
Al Muwarraq Palace was built in the Roman era: the Ministry to Tourism and Antiques indicates that the palace is divided into two parts, north and south, with a corridor between them. The palace has many rooms, water channels and caves that are dug into the rocks.
Al-Muwarraq Palace was built on an area of 1600 square meters, around a celestial courtyard measuring 11x10 meters, in the center of which is a rectangular peristyle foyer paved with a mosaic floor. The courtyard is surrounded by four residential suites built of regular trimmed stones, covered on the inside with a layer of plaster, and consists of living rooms, hospitality, services, and storage rooms. The northern wing had a thermal bath. In the south of the palace was a horse stable. The palace had a fortified entrance with a defensive tower located on its southwestern side.
