An ancient legend surrounds the thermal springs of Acqua Pia, known since ancient times for their beneficial effects
The fountain of eternal youth is located in the Belice Valley, not far from Montevago The Acqua Pia springs have been known since ancient times for their beneficial and curative properties. Over the centuries, Montevago and its "Sacred Spring" have been an important attraction for the populations that have succeeded one another in the area, the fame of these places being such that it gave rise to a legend that has come down to us.
The legend tells the story of two young shepherds, Cynthius and Corinthia, who went up the river Belice in search of its source. When they arrived in the vicinity of today's Acqua Pia Spa, they were attracted by the steamy waters and decided never to return home. They settled in a cave and every day the two shepherds immersed themselves in the warm waters, without ever growing old. It is said that Venus rewarded them with beauty and immortality by transforming Cynthius into a faun and Corinthia into a nymph.
We can’t be exactly sure about how things turned out, but the Acqua Pia springs are certainly still a magical place capable of regenerating body and soul. Surrounded by lush vegetation, among prickly pears, vineyards and olive groves, the springs gave life to a spa a hundred years ago. The warm waters that flow from the ground and the magnificent Sicilian landscapes that surround the area guarantee a relaxing wellness holiday.
