Experience the feeling of being an artist for a few hours
Experience feeling like a sculptor or engraver for a few hours by using the tools of this age-old art
Stone and Chisel is a multifaceted experience of theoretical and practical knowledge of the ancient art of stone engraving. Tourists are first introduced to the craft through a quick overview of inscriptions, then they are taken around the archaeological site of Umm Qais, on a guided tour, to view the inscriptions and decorations still visible on site and learn about their meaning. Finally, an engraver explains how to make your own artefacts imitating the ancient inscriptions and using light and small stone materials that can be taken home at the end of the experience.
