The land of the four villages
Several civilizations and a wonderful environment
The town of Tarqumiya is part of the Holy Land, and its location and environment have undoubtedly contributed to the growth and development of the town. The site was inhabited by various civilizations, beginning with the Arab Canaanites, who immigrated from Arabia during the first waves of migration in its history.
Later on, it was inhabited by Romans and Greeks and evidence of these civilizations still exist today (caves, olive trees, pottery, columns, tombs, coins).
Tarqumia was built on the ruins of a Canaanite town called "Yeftah", and it was known in the Roman era as Tricomias, meaning “the land of the four villages”: Kofor Atta, today known as “Fira”, Nahal Tileem today known as “Tayba”, Kofor Haraf today known as “Khirbet Sayf”, and finally “Khirbet Beit Naseeb”.
