A body experience in traditional decorative and cosmetic arts, designed especially for women, this is one of the most enjoyable experiences you can find in Aqaba
Turn your body into a work of art Henna is a colouring technique used in cosmetics since ancient times. Many cultures considered it sacred because of its ability to colour hair and skin. Kohl is one of the oldest types of cosmetics used by ancient civilizations. It is a design that amplifies the attractiveness of the eyes, especially for women, but also appeals to men. Lovers of make-up and cosmetics, body painting and decoration will be offered the chance to take centre stage by turning their bodies into works of art thanks to the skill of skilled artists.
First of all, participants are welcomed with an Arabian coffee and receive a short introduction on the history of Kohl and Henna, after which they can choose from several preset designs or ask the artist to draw something specific.
After the artist has finished his or her work, he or she will give instructions on how best to maintain the Henna design for as long as possible.
The experience is managed and conducted by two different organisations in Aqaba:
- The House of Roses Ladies Association: based in a place of great tranquility, simplicity and elegance, where you can enjoy a variety of experiences and taste excellent traditional food. It also offers an extensive display of high-quality handicrafts made by Jordanian women.
- Aqabawi: a company that is working with local communities in the south of Jordan to create and develop cultural tourism experiences, coastal heritage conservation, train and prepare local guides who are experts in culture and promote to those who are looking for a genuine cultural exchange and safe engagement with the locals.
