A land of vineyards caressed by the sea, Menfi lies between crystal-clear waters and lush hills
It’s always the right time to discover the rich food and wine and cultural tradition of Menfi Menfi is one of the pearls of Sicily. Between the sea and the hills, it is located in one of the best wine-growing areas and has become over the years a real point of reference for Sicilian food and wine tourism.
The first settlement at Menfi, consisting of about ninety houses, grew around the Castle built by Frederick II. In 1635, King Philip II issued an edict granting anyone who moved there to grow wheat a few hectares of land to grow grapes as well. Since then, vines and wine have been a characteristic feature of Menfi, and not even the earthquake of 1968 has stopped this.
But Menfi is not only known for its good wine. Its lush territory, rich in vineyards and olive groves, nature reserves and blue flag beaches, is an unmissable destination for those who want to experience nature.
The cycle path, created from the conversion of the old railway line, connects Menfi to Porto Palo, with a 20 km route through the splendid vineyards.
